Spring is here!

So much has been going on in kindergarten.  I can't believe we are in the home stretch.  The last two weeks we have been studying Oviparous animals.  We have read some great books and watched some wonderful videos.  So educational to be able to see these animals in action instead of  just reading about them.  Speaking of videos we had a nice Face time chat with The Weltler family.  The kids had an awesome time catching Blake up on all the exciting things happening in our class and lives.  They were just as excited to hear from her and her siblings.  Its amazing what technology allows us to do. Speaking of technology we have started using the IPADS in our class.  The kids just love it.  I love it too.  So many great things can come from this added support for our emerging readers and writers.

We have been really busy in kindergarten. I think we have settled into a routine with our class and specials . I am learning so many things about them.  

In religion we have been talking about Jesus being our friend and how we can be a friend to others.  I have seen so many kind gestures in my class.

In math we have been working on ways to show and write numbers.

In reading we have learned about letters making words and how to count the syllables in words.  Their handwriting is coming along so nicely.  They really are working so hard.  Thank you for sharing them with us.

Happy holiday weekend!

This has been a busy week the students have worked really hard and are already into a routine. I am amazed at how fast they have picked up on our morning math and circle time binders.  I sent home a kindergarten buzz today, please check it for daily information and reminder.  You will  find it in your child's folder.
Don't forget to send you child in gym shoes for gym day.  Also please don't forget to send a snack with your child. This is important, because of our allergies I can't have anyone sharing.   You should have received the paper doll project.  Please have your child work on it and send it back to school so it can go in our hallway.  This week we will be reading Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and we have some fun activities to go with the story.

welcome back

Welcome back everyone!
The first day of school went so well.  The students were so excited to be here and did so well for their first day of all day kindergarten.  I am sure they were very tired at the end of the day.  I know I was.  We learned so many things today.  Believe it or not as adults we take a lot of things for granted.  They learned how to unpack and get ready for the day, where their seats and cubbies are located and how to get ready for dismissal.   .... At lunch I decided i was going to ask  you parents to pack me a lunch too!
We watched a movie about letters and sounds, worked in our math solutions book and read a story about getting ready for school.  The students were so excited about everything we did today.  I just loved it.  I hope they had as much fun as I did!

I hope you are all enjoying your summer, school will begin shortly! So many wonderful things are happening around the school, the construction work is really coming along!  The new kindergarten classroom is taking shape I can't wait for the work to be done!   See you all soon!
