Gingerbread houses

Kindergarten made Gingerbread house today and we had tons of fun. For the last week we have been reading several stories about the gingerbread man and we finished our unit by tasting and graphing gingerbread men and making our gingerbread houses. It has been a tasty week!! I know they had a blast creating (and eating) their masterpieces. I have never seen so much candy in one place!! Thank you everyone for your donations to our project and thank you to the parents who came in to help and take pictures! It isn't possible with out you.
The students had such a good time!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

Gingerbread Unit

Kindergarten has been reading many different versions of "The Gingerbread Man" story. We have read two different versions of the Gingerbread Man, one called "The Gingerbread Boy", one called "The Gingerbread Baby" and today we read "The Gingerbread Pirates". (so far that is my favorite) Each story is a little different. We talk about how they are similar and how they are different. The students are really enjoying these stories. I especially love when they recite parts from the story! We are looking forward to reading "The Gingerbread Friends", The Gingerbread Girl" and "The Gingerbread Cowboy". Who knew there were so many different stories about a gingerbread man? Friday we will be tasting Gingerbread cookies, in math we will be graphing whether we liked them or not and what part we ate first, the head, arm, or leg. Thank you Mrs. Stevens for picking them up. ( they will be safe for our children with nut allergies). Next week we will be making our gingerbread houses. This is such a fun activity! The students are looking forward to it. They get so excited everytime someone brings in candy for our houses. Check back later for pictures from the activity!
